Dear Brides & Grooms,
We created this page especially for you as you begin planning your wedding and considering entertainment. This special day requires extraordinary attention from everyone involved, and since we've handled entertainment at dozens of weddings since 1996, you can feel confident with our advice and services.
Points to remember:
- You can never book your entertainment too early! Our most popular bands tend to get booked six months to a year in advance. Prime wedding months—April, June, December—go especially fast.
- Most bands can cover a total of four hours by performing three 60-minute sets with two 30-minute breaks. The performance time on your contract will probably state 7pm-11pm or 8pm-midnight or whatever four-hour period you choose. In practice, however, few weddings go according to schedule, and our entertainers will work around your needs. You can plan breaks for your cake-cutting, toasts, bouquet toss, etc. whenever you want.
- Having said that, we also know that few wedding receptions actually go the distance. Once the happy couple leaves, most of your guests will head for home. You might think now that you'll want to party with your friends and family until 3am, but trust us—you'll be ready to bolt by 10pm! We've found that the best receptions plan for the band to play for three hours—two 75-minute sets and one 30-minute break. You can cut the cake, make toasts, etc. during that break, and having just one break holds the crowd much better. Of course, if the party is still going strong at the end of three hours, all of our bands will play an encore or two. But keep the old show-biz adage in mind: leave 'em wanting more! The band—and your guests—will thank you.
- Our bands bring all the sound equipment, stage lights, and other gear necessary. Most bands will ask you to supply a stage, which you can arrange through us or your contact at the venue. With at least 60 days notice, most of our bands are happy to learn a special song or two for you, provided it's in their general genre. Our bands will also provide recorded music to play before they begin and during their breaks, and you're welcome to bring a CD of your favorites to play, too. (If you're having a large reception, consider using a DJ, Trixie: Mistress of Karaoke, or Memories
of Elvis as special entertainment during the break.)
- Also, most bands are delighted to emcee, present the bridal party, and make other announcements during your reception.
- We require a 50%, non-refundable deposit and a signed contract to guarantee the band on the date you want.
- We will reconfirm all the details—starting times, set-up time, first dance song, etc.—a few days before the Big Day. Our bands make every effort to have their stage set-up and all their sound checks complete before your guests arrive. We'll also reconfirm the food and beverage requirements for the performers, dressing facilities, etc.
Please be assured that, while our job is to provide a lot of fun at your reception, we take your wedding day very seriously and will do everything in our power to get you the right entertainment at the best price.
